That’s some anchor tattoo Josh! Wow…that’s just a whole lot of nautical themed ink on the body of “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson, and we’re not quite sure why. The pictures that we have show him on the set of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, looking pretty ripped and doing some sort of scuba work or surfing…or just wearing a wet suit because he’s feeling frisky Whatever reason he’s dressed like a seal, he still rocking a very serious anchor piece of his side; even co-star Jennifer Lawrence seems to be surprised by the mass of his ink. The Academy Award nominated actress doesn’t have any known ink of her own, but she doesn’t seem like the type to give Josh any guff about his choice of body art. However, Hutcherson himself seems to have mixed feelings about his life in ink.
The “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” star currently has three tattoos on his body. He has the aforementioned giant anchor with red tips on his side, a Libra symbol on his wrist, and a ship on his back; he planned on getting more, but now it seems like that idea has been taken off the table. In May of 2012, Hutcherson did an interview in which he stated that he loved body art and that he was going to get a whole lot more of it put on his body. Being only 19 at the time and having gotten his first work done when he was just 16, it seemed like the sky was the limit for his body as a canvas. However, weeks later he went on record as saying that he was going to cut it out with the ink until he was a more established star. Citing mega-star Angelina Jolie as his prime example of a star who waited until she was established to get crazy with the needle (that doesn’t sound good, but you know what we’re talking about), the “Red Dawn” actor said that he wasn’t going to give casting directors an excuse to excuse him from considerations.
So with all of that said, we can’t tell you what the future holds for Josh Hutcherson’s body art, but we can speculate. He’s a pretty talented kid, and he’s making a fortune off his work in the “Hunger Games”, so we expect that he’ll find himself not too worried about his career within a few years, and he’ll start getting inked up again. Time will tell, and we’ll keep you posted!
As the lead singer of ulra-popular pop/rock quintet Maroon 5, Adam Levine has won multiple Grammy Awards; hit the top of the charts with songs like “This Love”, “Harder To Breathe”, and “Wake Up Call”; and secured himself a gig as a vocal coach on the hit reality show The Voice. Adam Levine is a full fledged rock star, and part of being a rock star is getting tattoos, and Levine has done that plenty. Amongst his tattoos are a tribute to his mom on his left forearm, triple “2”s on is forearm to represent the first studio Maroon 5 recorded in, a paw print, a shark representing his nickname, “Los Angeles” on his right shoulder to represent his hometown, a guitar on his forearm, a large tiger on his forearm, the roman numeral “X” to celebrate his bands ten year anniversary, a dove and cherry blossoms in rememberance on 9/11, a a bird on his sternum (perhaps to commemorate when he broke it), and some other various designs throughout his body.
Chris “Birdman” Anderson of the National BasketBall Association’s (NBA) Denver Nuggets is easily one of our favorite players, for many reasons. There’s his hard-nosed style of play, his “good but not great, and therefore attainable” level of skill, his crazy on the court antics, and most of, there’s the fact that he’s covered in tattoos. His newest, and most blatant, piece of ink is the “Free Bird” piece that wraps around his neck; it’s both well done, and painful, which makes it a ‘win’ in our book. He also has his bird wings, one on each bicep; a zombie version of himself, on his arm; a skull wearing a crown on his arm; two large Chinese characters, one on each forearm; a pit bull on his chest; “Honky Tonk” on his stomach; and a guy dunking a ball on his right arm. Birdman is definitely on the NBA’s “most tattooed” list, and considering how many guys in the league have ink, that’s a pretty impressive accomplishment.
CM Punk is one of the most famous and highly touted professional wrestlers in the entire World Wrestling Entertainment Universe; he’s also one the most tattooed. His extensive ink includes: the Cobra logo on his right shoulder (from G.I. Joe), the markings of the Arashikage ninja clan on his right forearm (also from G.I. Joe), the Pepsi logo on his left shoulder, four ace cards (part of a piece he calls “Luck is for Losers”, and a tribute to his trainer Ace Steel), a three-eyed Koi Fish, a spider web with the number 13 in the middle (he says 13 is his lucky number), a Bouncing Souls (the band) logo consisting of a broken heart and skyscrapers, “DRUG FREE” across his knuckles, a Rocket From The Crypt (band) logo, “Straight Edge” on his stomach, a pez dispenser, Operation Ivy’s “Dancing Ska Man” on his leg, Rosie the Riveter with the words “There is a war” below her, “No Gimmick Needed” on his hand, a skull and dragon piece on his chest, a dead fish on his back, and some other random tattoos that represent his straight edge/ punk rock lifestyle.
Drew has reportedly six tattoos with the cross on her ankle and the butterfly on her stomach being the largest and most noticeable. Just to the side of the butterfly is a floral design. On her back she has a trio of angles carrying a cross with her mother’s name. None of the tats have much color, a little blue on the butterfly and a bit of greenish black on the cross. The cross has a vine wrapped around it. Also, she has a moon on the big toe of her right foot. These are some standard designs but its all about the execution, placement, color and meaning to the wearer. Butterflies and crosses can still be good choices if done in an interesting way. In this case, although there is nothing outstanding or that spectacular, hers aren’t bad. She wears them well and they add a little character to her flesh.
When you think Jersey Shore, we’re 99% sure that the first word that pops into your mind is “religious”, but aparently that wouldn’t be that far off…at least in regards to resident brawler Ronnie Magro’s tattoos. The Bronx born “star” of the popular MTV series has three large pieces of ink on his body, and they’re all related to his catholic faith, and all really well done. On his left shoulder blad/upper back, he has a wooden cross; on his stomach, he has praying hands; and for his latest tattoo, he has a quarter sleave on his right shoulder that depicts heaven and hell. So folks, while it’s safe to say that he doesn’t have the most original ink in the world, at least he has some pieces that mean something to him. He’s also the cast member that we’d least like to throw a used diaper at, so he’s got that going for him.
Glee star Lea Michele is your classic case of someone playing an innocent, wholesome character on television, but having a bit of a wild streak off screen. Amongst her at least nine tattoos, she has “imagine” on her foot (it matches her Glee co-stars Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale), a gold star (in honor of Rachel Berry, her straight-A Glee character), “I Believe” on her wrist (the big song from her Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening), a blue butterfly on her right foot (drawn by her cousin), a butterfly on her back (it matches her mother’s ink), a bird on her hip, two musical notes on her shoulder (they’re from Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”), “our city our love…” on her foot, and a tattoo on her thigh in memory of her grandfather’s passing. Ok, so maybe it’s not a wild streak; all of her ink seems to have legitimate sentimental meaning to her, and that’s pretty rare, so consider us impressed.
So folks, as part of her generic party-girl idiocy, Lindsay Lohan has gotten some generic tattoos. She has the ever popular tiny star that means something vapid and falsely deep, she has “shhhh” on her finger (get it, so she can put her finger to her mouth and “shhhh” people…ugh), a teardrop on her hand (again, so she can do a stupid thing where she puts her hand to face and mimicks crying), the words”La Bella Vida” on her lower back (“the beautiful life” in Italian…double ugh), some interpretation of some Marlyn Monroe saying on her arm (she undoubtedly took the wrong meaning from it), and her latest ink, lyrics from the Billy Joel song “I Go To Extremes”; which read, “Clear as a crystal sharp as a knife/I feel like I’m in the prime of my life,”. Billy Joel is awesome, Lindsay Lohan is terrible, and she’s again most likely misinterpreting his lyrics. I’m pretty sure he meant to tell people to follow their dreams no matter what, or something similar; he didn’t want them to act like drunk morons and make a constant mockery of the justice system. Boo to her, boo to her tattoos; I’m out.
Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon, star of Walk The Line, Legally Blonde, and This Means War, has really had quite the career. Recently though, she has seen her career hit the typical mid-thirties slow patch. Reese isn’t worried though, and she definitely didn’t do that female mid-life crisis thing that women do where they get a tattoo in a semi unflattering place that used to be more flattering…did she? I guess that’s one of those “in the eye of the beholder” things, so you folks can judge for yourselves what you think about her new stomach tattoo. She recently was on the beach with her new husband, and was flaunting her new ink, which appears to be a star surrounded by two doves. It has a very “picked off the wall of the shop while on spring break” feel to it, but she seems happy, and that’s all that matters. She is also really talented and can buy my house with me in it, so we should trust her judgment.
You think Abraham Lincoln’s son had his own vaudeville act? Probably not, because back in the day you had to do something to be famous. However, Rob Kardashian is proof that these days, all you need is a famous family. So as much as it pains me, people know his name and he’s got tattoos; so he falls under my scope. The star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians has a significant amount of tattoos, but the ones that seem to get the coverage are those on his left forearm, and the one on the left side of his ribcage. In my opinion, one if awesome, and that other one is a terrible idea; I’ll let you guess which is which. First up is his forearm, which features praying hands and a really nicely done portrait of his late father Robert Kardashian Sr. (a man who was actually famous for a reason). Take a second and consider that one folks…got it? Good. We now move on to his ribs where he has…drum roll please (*drum roll starts*)…the full name of his girlfriend Adrienne Bailon. (*drummer has heart attack and drops sticks, crowd begins to shuffle towards exits*) Really man? You’re not even married to her, ugh. I guess you can guess which one I think is awesome…the Bailon one…what? The script letters make me feel fancy.
