We’re not completly sure if we’re ready to refer to one of the stars of Teen Mom 2 (she wasn’t even on the original cast! She saw how stupid the show and it’s cast were…and still got pregnant and went on the show!) as a celebrity, but one of them got a new tattoo, so let’s talk about it. Kailyn Lowry says that the back piece isn’t finished yet, but it’s already pretty friggin’ extensive. The piece, which is seven sessions deep already, has a caption that reads “to the world you are one person, but to one person you are the world” and features flowers, trees, and rolling hills. It’s aparently going to be some kind of big landscape piece, but we’re not sure if she’s going to extend it into her mid-back more and add a ton of design, or if she’s just going to build on the outline design that she’s got going. She should probably keep it as the outline she has now, because her lack of tattoage elsewhere would make a full back piece look a bit out of place. We’d like to give her more guff about the ink, but it’s not bad work and the message is really nice, so we’ll let her slide. We will however give her guff about being a teen mom; thanks for the new drain on the economy Kailyn, we really needed another one.
Hello Mrs. Milano what do we have here but a few spiritual symbols placed here and there. Let us begin with the Buddhist “Hum” she has on her neck. Thumbs up for that one, the style is clear and bold and if you are going to put something on your neck the symbol for universal wisdom, unity and power is a decent choice. She also has an “Om” on one of her wrists to compliment the “Hum”. Right on, we can dig all the Buddhist script characters if that’s what you’re into. On her right wrist however is a snake that is biting its own tail, also known as the Celtic ouroboros, symbolizing the cycle of life and death. Then on her shoulder some rosary beads and a cross. On her ankle, she has an angel and then there is another angel/faerie on her stomach. Wait a minute, I think she left out a few religions, where is the star of David and some Arabic script? Middle Eastern fans of hers are going to feel left out. And on her other ankle some flowers? How do the flowers fit in? Maybe she started with that one before she decided to go all spiritual on us.
Is it weird that after all the meat-dresses, headdresses, wigs, and space alien/muppet hybrid-ish outfits that Lady Gaga has worn, we were actually kind of surprised that she has tattoos? Well she does; Lady Gaga’s tattoos are: a peace sign on the inside of her left wrist, “Little Monsters” on her left arm (a tribute to her fans), “Tokyo Love” on her left shoulder, flowers on her left shoulder, and some more flowers on her left hip/ left buttox area, but her most talked about ink is on the inside of her left bicep. Done during a late-night run to a tattoo parlor in Japan, it’s a quote from her favorite philosopher Rainer Maria Rilke. Translated from the German it’s written in, it says: “Confess to yourself in the deepest hour of the night whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Dig deep into your heart, where the answer spreads its roots in your being, and ask yourself solemnly, Must I write?”. We can relate, we often ask ourselves why we write about Lady Gaga…zing! Wait, it’s because she’s more interesting than us (*sigh*).
Mia Tyler is obsessed with music and tattoos. Given who her father is, Steven Tyler, it makes sense that she really digs rock and punk rock but why tattoos? She is one of those that once they’ve got started there’s no stopping. She’s got them everywhere – hands, feet, sleeves, legs, back and she doesn’t even know how many. And we’ve got plenty of pictures because she is a model and doesn’t mind showing them off. Its starts to blur because when you have so many because you start to add little things to them, change or add different colors, blend different ones together, and add designs in between to balance things out. She even has tattoo parties where she and her friend take turns on each other. But she’s only 32 and there is a lot of space left on her skin canvas so we can continue to watch the evolution. Next up is her chest she has said. The challenge starts to be how do you fit all these things together? For example, when you have oriental themed something and a faerie what can you put in between? Well, thats art. The work on her right arm sleeve around the shoulder faerie turned out well. The flowers and colors have a nice aged classic look. The worst one is the face on her foot. What is that? and it is solid ink so I don’t know how she is going to work with it.
Brendon Urie the 24 year old Mormon musician from Nevada and from the band Panic! can apparently play every instrument in existence (piano, guitar, cello, violin, accordion, wind instruments, etc, oh yeah he’s the vocalist and songwriter too). One of those instruments is the piano so it makes sense that he represents his musical talents with giant piano keys on his arm. On the elbow it blends into a nice big flower and he has a little red coloring on either side of the piano keys. So what we would suggest for him is to keep adding instruments into a kind of orchestra mural with flying musical notes in different colors coming out of trumpets and violins and whatnot. His whole body covered in a consistent musical theme would be something unique he could do instruments in different styles and/or famous musicians like Dizzy Gillespie, Ozzy, Beethoven, etc. But anyway the piano keyboard is a good start and we’ll see where he gets to with it.
If anyone deserves a tattoo review here is the man. California native, aged 35, he is well on his way to filling up the body canvas. With his wealth of designs, he blesses the covers of tattoo magazines. This is none other than the punk pop drummer Travis Barker, drummer for Blink 182. He has also recently released a solo album Give the Drummer Some where he mixes it up with some other players in his music genre. It has some heavy riffs, hip hop raps, and don’t forget the drums and beats.
Well, this drummer has got some ink. Great color combinations in swirling intricate designs pretty evenly spaced out across his torso and arms up to the side of his head. No doubt he has been taking advantage of good quantity and quality of tattoo artists in the LA area. Facing forward most prominent is the stereo boob box on his stomach, Marilyn Monroe in the center of his neck and the checkered flags on either side of Marilyn. Just below “can I say” is the Cadillac emblem. Cadillac is also written on his side in letters as big as possible. “Hope” on his lower back is written as large possible too. On his right shoulder he has a woman’s face with her blue hair swirling into other organic designs. The dominant themes are scripts, stars and the colors.
Christopher Maurice Brown was born May 5, 1989. The actor, dancer, singer and songwriter made his debut at the age of 16. He recorded songs titled, “Kiss Kiss” “Forever” and “I Can Transform Ya”. His hit single “Run it” sold over 2 million copies. But then he may be more well-known for mistreating his girlfriend Rihanna.
His first tattoo was one of Christ with musical notes acknowledging him for the gift to sing. The second one Chris got when he was 14 it was the letter “C” and next the letter “B”. The latest tattoo Chris Brown got was a skull with an halo. The most profound tattoo is the ninjas and darkness. Chris says it represents his past and the struggles he had to conquer within himself. He has been getting a lot of tattoo work recently. You can see the progression in the pics, some before, some more recent. His entire upper chest and neck is now inked. He has a heart (with a knife through it no less), some wings and some flowers too. The arms are a little too densely inked to make out what he’s got there.
Ashlee Simpson, also known as Ashlee Nicole Wentz, (formally married to Pete Wetntz), was born October 3rd, 1984 and best known as the little sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Ashlee has her share of tattoos. On the inside of her left wrist Ashlee has a tattoo of a star, and close by on the other side of her left wrist is a picture of a peony (a flower not a pony, a pony would be nice too, although the peony isn’t bad). Ashlee also has on the inside of her right wrist the words LOVE 3, and on her right ankle is a tattoo of cherries; at least we know she is not impartial to fruits. She is sentimental however, because on Ashlee Simpson ring finger is a tattoo of a small wedding ring with a heart.
Britney Spears was born on December 2, 1981, and has been famous since she was a teenager for her enormous teen pop appeal. She’s a recording artist and an entertainer, some of her most famous singles are “Baby, Baby One More Time” and “Oops! I Did It Again.” Britney has a lot of tattoos placed in random locations throughout her body. On her lower hip is a pink, white, and black cross tattoo, on her wrist is a set of red and pink lips, on the back of her neck is are three Hebrew figures, on her left wrist is a sporty pair of pink dice, a symbolic Chinese flower on her lower middle abdomen, on her right hand she display a small star, on her left foot is a butterfly escaping a vine, on her lower back is a tattoo of a fairy, and on her second right toe is a eternal daisy ring. Britney has sold over 100 million records worldwide. She was ranked number six in Forbes magazine’s list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential celebrities in the world. Britney just released a new album titled Femme Fatale. Her first single off the new album “Hold It Against Me” hit number one.
Christina Maria Aguilera, born December 18, 1980, is an American recording artist and actress. Made famous at a young age by singles like Genie in a Bottle, What A Girl Wants, and much more, she’s been singing since 1999. She has several tattoos in various places of her body as well as piercings and body art. On the back of her neck is the name “Xtina”. Isn’t that short for Christina? We’re not big fans of people tatting their own names but maybe that is her granma’s name or somebody else’s. On her left wrist is a small, but beautiful flower and on the inside of her left forearm bears her husband’s name in Hebrew letters Yud and Bet. On the lower part of Christina’s back are the words “I am to my beloved what my beloved is to me”. She even honors the mouseketeer days with a bikini line tattoo of Mikey Mouse.
