We’re not sure when country legend Dolly Parton got her “tattoo”, hell, we’re not even sure if that’s a tattoo, because it could just as well have been a ketchup stain judging by its size. Regardless, people that got a closer look at the Joyful Noise star claim that she has a small tattoo of a rose between her breasts. We guess we can see it, and it makes sense that she’d be okay drawing more attention to her chest, seeing as how a large part of her image has been that large part of her build. Really folks, when it comes down to it, who cares? She’s Dolly Parton, she’s a National Treasure; she’s got her own theme park (DollyWood), countless awards, millions of records sold, does a ton of charity work, and has been married to the same guy for over 45 years! She could get “Celebrity Tattoo Design sucks” tattooed on her face and we’djust be happy she thought of us.
You know the front man for Guns N’ Roses has to have some tattoos. You might expect to see some guns or some roses or both. And yes! he has a big blue rose on one shoulder. Sorry no luck on the guns but what he does have is the Appetite for Destruction logo on his forearm although it has gotten a little faded and blurry and looks like a green blob. We’re glad he chose to get the logo for that album and not the one for The Spaghetti Incident. Also, there is a cool 1980s-looking, big-hair woman on his arm. His tats are sharply done and have some bright red, blue, green and yellow coloring. They mark Axl in his place in time as an 80s rocker and we like it.
As a professional rocker for a long time, Navarro has done what he can to get a good deal of meaningful rocker tats. Starting off with Jane’s Addiction, playing with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and with a whole slew of other big name rockers, Navarro is a top-shelf rocker, however, we have to give his tats a “so-so” ranking. Not too bad, he has some decent ones and has everything done with classic dark ink. He has all the standards in various shapes and sizes – a rose, snakes, spades, stars, crosses, skulls, and Mother Mary. Then there’s “Don’t try this at home” on one arm, dolphins, a unicorn, his deceased Mother’s name on his back – Constance, and a few other unique items.
Allsion Eastwood is a girl with a famous last name. However, Clint Eastwood’s little girl is more than just Hollywood royalty, she’s also an actress, a director, and model who’s worked on films like Absolute Power, and Black and White, and posed in magazines like Vogue. To further stand out from her superstar father, Allison has cultivated a “bad girl” image that includes having some ink. She has very large rose on hr left shoulder, colored and all. She also has a band around her left wrist that she never covers with jewelry. She wears them very well too, walking the line between biker chick and mom very well. Her ink seems to give her a look that says, “I’m tame now, but I haven’t always been an angel.”, a look that suits her perfectly.
David Beckham is one of, if not the biggest name in the biggest sport in the world. Playing as a mid-fielder, Beckham has been a star for Manchester Uniter, Real Madrid, The LA Galaxy, and the English National Team, but he’s perhaps almost as famous for his good looks as he is for his skills on the field. In the past, a man with his brand of fair haired good looks would’ve lost popularity when he started getting tattooed, but lucky for Beckham, he lives in a time where tattoos just add to one’s sex appeal. It seems that the more inked he gets, the more women love him; so he just keeps on getting tattoed. What does he have? Glad you asked: he has a big Jesus on his torso (taken from the painting The Man Of Sorrows), a crucifix on the back of his neck, a guardian angel between his shoulder blades (it overlooks the names of his three children; Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz), an angel on his right shoulder (with the text “In the face of adversity”), the Roman numeral VII on his right arm (for the number seven shirt he wore at Manchester United), a pin-up girl on his forearm, the name of his wife Victoria written in Hindi (he thought it would be “tacky” to have it in English) and a Bible verse written in Hebrew, reads אני לדודי ודודי לי הרעה בשושנים ( “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine, that shepherds among the lilies.”); as well as many others with a dominating theme of things with wings. Most of Beckham’s work has been done by Manchester tattooist Louis Malloy.
Ed Norton doesn’t have any tattoos or does he? Well, in the movies at least he knows how to act like he does. But wait, we do believe (from the rumors) that he does have one confirmed tat – The band logo of Black Flag, the 70s-80s punk rock band. This is on his upper back, left side.
Now, about his movie ink. These are not the kind of crude prison tats you get in prison but are the kind that show that you are likely to end up in prison.
First off – American X. If there is anything a swastika tattoo tells us about a person, it is that they are headed for a hate-filled downward spiral towards an empty life. And that is what that movie was about, so that was a good choice for the character. Then, he has a German empire eagle, barbed wire and some other bad ideas appropriate for the film character.
Next, you have Norton back in prison again with the 2010 movie Stone. In this one, he plays a another psycho (with cornrows) but we don’t see anything particularly wrong with his ink – a big rose, a dragon, and a few others (forearm, back). Here, I guess the message is simply that prison psychos are likely to have tough looking tattoos.
Tim Armstrong is a punk music legend. Born in Berkely, California in 1965, he’s been part of such acts as Operation Ivy, The Transplants, and Downfall, but he’s most famous as the lead singer and founder of Rancid, which you may remember from the early 90s when they became somewhat well-known (that’s big time for a punk band). He also founded and co-owns Hellcat Records. It should be no surprise that this rocker is covered in tattoos. His biggest and most famous piece is the spider web on top of his head, which he’s had things added to over the years, making it a constant work in progress. He also has extensive work on both arms. The tattoos on his left arm include, a bracelet of skulls on his wrist, the “Hellcat Records” logo on his forearm, a large skull, and a spider web on his elbow; while the tattoos on his right arm include, a big skull on his bicep (which was done to cover his ex wife’s name “Brody”) and large rose on the inside of his forearm. He also has a spider on the left side of his neck, the letters “PUNX” on the knuckles of his left hand, and “U.S. Thugs” on his stomach. He still tours with his various bands and is a fixture in the punk community, so he will probably never stop getting ink, so keep an eye on the ever changing canvas that is Tim Armstrong.
Hip-Hop Soul singer Keyshia Cole first gained success when her debut album The Way It Is reached platinum status in 2005. Since then, her career has had it’s ups and downs, but one thing that has remained consistent is her love of tattoos. Keyshia has at least five tattoos that we know of. She has one on her neck that says, “Have Faith” with a small red heart next to it. She also has a heart and a tear drop on her left hand, a teddy bear on her right ankle, a rose with flames on her left wrist, and “Truly Blessed, D.Gibson” on her left shoulder (it’s in honor of her husband, NBA player Daniel Gibson). However, her biggest piece of body art is on her right arm. At quick glance, it looks like the birth of a jellyfish, but on further inspection, it’s a heart with a stake going into it, set on a star. That sounds like a bad idea, but when you look at it, it turned out alright. That wooden stake was a strange choice but there it is going through a big black heart that looks like a plum. There were rumors that she was going to stop getting ink in order shed her “ghetto image”, but with tattoos rapidly becoming more acceptable to the masses, there’s nothing ghetto about her, and she will probably get more in the future.
If anyone deserves a tattoo review here is the man. California native, aged 35, he is well on his way to filling up the body canvas. With his wealth of designs, he blesses the covers of tattoo magazines. This is none other than the punk pop drummer Travis Barker, drummer for Blink 182. He has also recently released a solo album Give the Drummer Some where he mixes it up with some other players in his music genre. It has some heavy riffs, hip hop raps, and don’t forget the drums and beats.
Well, this drummer has got some ink. Great color combinations in swirling intricate designs pretty evenly spaced out across his torso and arms up to the side of his head. No doubt he has been taking advantage of good quantity and quality of tattoo artists in the LA area. Facing forward most prominent is the stereo boob box on his stomach, Marilyn Monroe in the center of his neck and the checkered flags on either side of Marilyn. Just below “can I say” is the Cadillac emblem. Cadillac is also written on his side in letters as big as possible. “Hope” on his lower back is written as large possible too. On his right shoulder he has a woman’s face with her blue hair swirling into other organic designs. The dominant themes are scripts, stars and the colors.
Christopher Maurice Brown was born May 5, 1989. The actor, dancer, singer and songwriter made his debut at the age of 16. He recorded songs titled, “Kiss Kiss” “Forever” and “I Can Transform Ya”. His hit single “Run it” sold over 2 million copies. But then he may be more well-known for mistreating his girlfriend Rihanna.
His first tattoo was one of Christ with musical notes acknowledging him for the gift to sing. The second one Chris got when he was 14 it was the letter “C” and next the letter “B”. The latest tattoo Chris Brown got was a skull with an halo. The most profound tattoo is the ninjas and darkness. Chris says it represents his past and the struggles he had to conquer within himself. He has been getting a lot of tattoo work recently. You can see the progression in the pics, some before, some more recent. His entire upper chest and neck is now inked. He has a heart (with a knife through it no less), some wings and some flowers too. The arms are a little too densely inked to make out what he’s got there.
