Melanie Griffith Is Gettng Antonio Off Her Arm

melanie-griffith-tattoo-removal-pictures

It’s been a celebrity tattoo removal kind of time around here folks. We recently told you about Adrienne Baillon’s decision to get her Rob Kardashian butt tattoo taken off with a new laser treatment, and now we’ve another female celebrity who wants nothing to do with having her exe’s name inked on her body. This time it’s a little more weird though, also this time it’s someone who probably didn’t instantly regret her body art; it’s Melanie Griffith. The “Automata” star recently divorced her husband of fifteen years, Antonio Banderas, and she’s decided that she no longer wants his name to be prominently displayed on her arm. We imagine that when she initially got the tattoo done, she thought it was a great idea, their marriage was strong for a really long time, but unfortunately she was wrong and now her symbol of love is a symbol of failure. We still didn’t get to the weird part though…melanie-griffith-tattoo-removalMel’s removal of her heart with “Antonio” in the center tattoo seems to be off to a good start, as the laser procedure has already made his name almost, if not totally, invisible. However, she’s decided that the best way to cover-up her laser site is with a bandage with her name on it…yeah, it says “Mel”. She’s got it positioned in such a way as if to replace his name with hers; we guess that this is some sort of “love yourself before you love others” type of statement, but since she’s not a teenager, it makes her look kind of crazy. It’s very possible that she’s leaving the rest of the heart and plans on getting her kids names or initials inside of it, but if she’s thinking about getting her own name put in there…she needs to reconsider. Getting your own name put on your body is always a suspect tattoo decision, but getting it inside of a heart? That’s just plain strange.melanie-griffith-tattoo-removal-before-afterMelanie Griffith is a really talented lady, and we’re really upset for her that her marriage didn’t work out. However, seeing as how she already has way too much plastic surgery, permanently scarring her body with a bad tattoo is not the way to cope with the big changes in her life. We understand having the laser removal, but she needs to be careful with her next step. We hope that she’s just having a momentary lapse into scorned woman territory, because she’s too mature and too much of a celebrity to be making avoidable mistake in her tattoo design. Be strong Mel, bad ink is never the answer!

Adrienne Bailon Removes Her Kardashian Tattoo

adrienne-bailon-butt-tattoo

Adrienne Bailon is one of those people who’s kind of so far removed from her original success that it’s become easy to forget exactly why she’s famous. We’re not saying that she’s not successful, because selling about 5 million albums and fronting two different successful music acts is pretty much the definition of success, but we’re pretty sure that there’s a lot of people who know her more for her work on “The Real”, as a red carpet reporter, and her relationship with Rob Kardashian than they do for her music career. Well luckily for her, she’s no longer with the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star, and now over half a decade after they broke up, she’s finally getting rid of some of the evidence. No, she’s not throwing out any bodies, and she’s not giving away any sort of jewelry, but she is getting her butt tattoo removed!adrienne-bailon-butt-tattoo-pic

The couple originally began dating in 2007, and before breaking up in 2009 they decided to take things to the next level by having each other’s names inked on their bodies. Rob got “Adrienne E Bailon” put on his ribs, and to our knowledge he still has it. Adrienne went a little more hard and got “Robert A. Kardashian”…on her butt. Yup, she went for the ole’ name on da butt; never a great idea. After their breakup, Adrienne attempted to have the fairlly large piece removed multiple times, but nothing could do more than slightly fade it. We imagine that her skin type had something to do with it, but who cares, because she recently underwent a new treatment that zapped that bad boy right off her heiny! She invited the cameras from “Extra!” To come along as she went under the laser for her life changing removal. We know that having a tat that no one can see removed shouldn’t really be a huge deal for a millionaire, but anytime you can distance yourself from the Kardashians, it’s a victory.rob-kardashian-rib-tat

To be honest, if we were Adrienne, we would’ve just left the tat and said that we really like lawyers from the 90s, but we’re all idiots. Anyhow, this whole situation is just another reminder that you shouldn’t get anyone’s name inked on you unless you’re already related…also that you shouldn’t date Kardashians, those people are trouble.

Some Thoughts On The Evolution Of Ink

tattoo-removal-laser-machine-for-sale

Let’s start things with some truth folks: No matter how tough, or deep, or angry you say you are, you’re not the first person to ever get a tattoo. No folks, despite what some angsty twenty-somethings will tell you, tattoos aren’t some new awesome thing that makes us different from the generations before us. They may be a little more acceptable now than they used to be, but people have been getting them for all sorts of reasons since about as far back as we’ve been able to trace life as a whole. For example: a corpse recovered from all the way back in the neolithic era was found to have preserved skin (it was recovered in a block of ice in 1991, right about the time every television show decided to feature frozen-caveman subplots), and on that skin were a few tattooed marks. The tats were apparently part of an old school acupuncture process, so they were used for healing rather than design, but that doesn’t make them”not tattoos”. The modern art of tattooing goes back to the Tahitian art of “Tatau”, and was brought into the “civilized” world by sailors who visited the island. That work, done with simple needles and hammers, evolved into what we have today with the advent of the double-coil tattoo gun in the late 1800s. It’s already evolved further, as ravers have been getting “invisible” black-light tattoos ( they get them for sho; they aren’t visible in daylight and show up glowing under black-lights) for years now, but where’s it all headed? Well, just like humanity, tattoos are still evolving folks, and just like us, they’re getting more and more tech savvy.Laser-Tattoo-Removal-11

The future of tattoos, like the futures of us all, is one rooted in technological advancement. A few years back, Nokia patented a type of fero-magnetic ink that can be manipulated with magnetic fields. The ink reacts to cell signals and creates an effect where the tattooed feel their phones ringing through their skin. So yeah, that one is kind of useless for now, but other future tats are more helpful. For instance, the LED tattoos that are being developed with someday allow diabetics to get an on-the-body blood sugar reading, while “epidural electronic” technology will involve small electronics being “tattooed” into your skin and doing things like monitoring your heart or letting you know when you’re getting a sunburn. Basically, the important advancements in tattooing will be less tattoos, and more under-the-skin implants. There are other advancements in straight up body-art, but they mostly involve tats that move (like GIF images) and ink that shows up different on cell phone screens. These advancements are currently far too costly to go mainstream, so we expect medical tech tats to become popular long before traditional ink tattoos get replaced with fancy body cartoons.led-tattoo

Like all art and technology, tattoos are ever changing and always growing as a medium, but their beauty lies in their simplicity. In our humble opinions, even when the word “tattoo” starts to mean all sorts of different things in the future, there will still be plenty of people who just want to get regular old needlework done. However, one thing will change: new ink tech means that vegetable-based tats can be removed in as little as one laser session, and with almost no pain. So one thing will change: tats won’t be as permanent as they once were. Well, we guess tats won’t be forever anymore…but we still think that they’ll be around forever.

Kimye Finally Getting Tattoos? Someone Else Already Did!

Kimye-tattoo

Kimye is at war! No, we’re not talking about a small 3rd world nation embroiled in civil war, we’re talking about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West arguing with each other, which is way worse in a completely untrue sort of way. What are they fighting about? Well tattoos of course! Why else would we be talking about it folks? Come on, get with the program! Anyhow, pop culture’s prime power couple is reportedly having some turmoil over some ink that one of them wants and the other doesn’t. Reports state that Kanye approached his baby’s mother about getting a “K” on each of their wrists…because you know, it’s the first letter of both of their first names…very creative! Kim initially agreed to the point that Kanye lined up an appointment with his favorite tattoo artist, but when they got there she got cold feet. Kanye sees this as an an insult, and they’ve now been at odds about it for a bit. We’d like to think that a fight over a tattoo that neither person has, especially when you consider that one of the people doesn’t have any ink to begin with, wouldn’t last too long. However, celebrities are insane, and a break-up over a tattoo wouldn’t even be on the list of craziest things that one of them has ever done. This isn’t the first time the two have considered getting ink together, so maybe it’s a bigger issue than it seems. We’ll keep an eye on this situation folks, and if it leads to two people who have a baby (North West) breaking up, we’ll tell you all about the insanity.kanye-west-fan-tattoo-Kimye-Over

Also, in other Kimye tattoo news, and in other insanity news for that matter: some borderline crazy (we’re being really nice with our use of the word “borderline”) Kanye West fan decided to show her feelings about the happy couple with a tattoo! The “Kimye Over” ink that sits on the back of a woman who legally changed her name to Kanyaresa West pretty much speaks for itself…in the same way that sending someone a teddy bear with the head cut off “speaks for itself”. She needs laser treatments and Kanye needs a restraining order!

Kelly Osbourne Eliminates Ink

kelly-osbourne-tattoo-removal-pic

We’re losing one folks! Another member of the tattooed community has decided to forsake their ink and lead a life of plain skin; we can’t hate her for the decision, only wish her the best. The soon to be former tattooed person we’re talking about today is Kelly Osbourne. The daughter of Ozzy and Sharon (who most of us still only refer to as “SHARON!!” in honor of Ozzy’s epic annunciation of her name during their time as reality stars) has found success in recent years as a member of the “Fashion Police” and as an overall trend setter, becoming more famous to younger generations than even her rock legend father. In fact, for those of you who are too young to understand, Ozzy Osbourne was the lead singer of Black Sabbath, one of the greatest…aw screw it, he was the original singer of that song from the commercial where the little kids sing acapella in the jeep. Whatever, Kelly is really famous now, going from somewhat troubled, out-casted, and overweight teen to cultural icon, and as she completes her transition to the next phase of her life (one that will soon include marriage), she’s decided that she’s over her ink and has begun to process of getting most of her fifteen tattoos removed. She began the lengthy endeavor in early November of 2013 by starting laser treatments for the keyboard tattoo on her right forearm. She says that she got it while depressed and that it doesn’t mean the same thing to her anymore, so we assume that’s why it’s the first one on the block. We’ve heard varying accounts of the pain associated with laser tattoo removal, with some of our toughest friends saying it’s a nightmare and some of our softest buddies saying it was a walk in the park. We have to imagine that the pain has to do with the inks placement, the coloring, and one’s skin type. If you’re the type who sunburns easily, having a laser literally melt your flesh probably won’t feel too great. We’ve yet to figure out if Osbourne is now against ink in general, or if she just doesn’t think that it’s for her. Her Tweet about the removal was to the effect of “I did the crime, now I’m doing the time.”, which seems anti-ink to us, but she doesn’t seem like the type to just go against something like that, so maybe it’s just a poor choice of words. We guess time will tell, and if we see her bad mouthing body art on “Fashion Police”, we’ll know where she stands. Regardless, we wish Kelly the best of luck with her procedures!

Miley’s New Ink Is Not Built To Last, Neither Was Her Relationship

miley-cyrus-foot-tattoo

Miley Cyrus, you’ve done it again! What’s the “it” in this particular case? Well it’s “got a stupid tattoo” of course! We try really hard around these parts to not bash anyone’s ink because we know what it’s like to get something done in the moment and then not be super psyched about it afterwards (case in point: one of our staffer’s “Boondock Saints” piece). We try to say that even the worst body art should represent at least a reminder to its beholder of the time in their life when they got it. However, we can’t help but think that some pieces are the result of a complete lack of logical thinking…Miley’s new foot ink is one of those pieces.

miley-cyrus-foot-tattoos

The “Rolling Stone” cover girl and “We Can’t Stop” singer wanted to do something fun with her interviewer from the popular magazine, so she took him to a tattoo parlor. She said that she initially considered taking him to play laser tag or to go bowling, but that she decided those were lame ideas…there’s nothing lame about simulated combat between friends and/or simulated combat between a man and some pieces of wood, but that’s an arguement for another day. So yeah folks, she took the guy to get inked, and while it seems that the journalist didn’t have anything done, she made the most of the oppurtunity and get some new ridiculous ink. In honor of the her first time gracing the cover of the legendary magazine, she got “Rolling $tone” inked on…the bottoom of her feet. Yeah, the bottom of her feet, the part of her body that has basically zero chance of holding ink for more than a few weeks. Unless she confines herself to a wheel chair, the tattoo is more of an art project/stunt than it is an actual permanent marking because the amount of time the average person spends on their feet will rub all of the ink out in a fairly short time. Coincidentally, her foot piece might not be the only tat that she loses in the next few months, as rumors have been swirling that she’s going to have the “matching” ink that she got with her ex love Liam Hemsworth removed. The Teddy Roosevelt quote that they had split across their respective arms in 2012 might be getting lasered or covered by something else in the near future. If she gets it covered than it will be a little messy because the current piece is a little spread out, so we assume that she’ll go laser or possibly just add his half somewhere on her body and make the piece her own. Whatever she decides, we’ll keep you posted!

Hayden Panettiere Removes Misspelled Ink

hayden-panettiere-tattoo-removal

¬†Here at the old tattoo viewing shop, we try not to be too hard on people in regards to their choices of ink. After all, we’ve all made “mistakes” and gotten things that at one point represented how we felt about the world but soon became symbols of our mislead youth and/or early thirties. Actually, if we’re being completely honest about the whole thing, it’s hard for us to really ever consider any ink gotten while sober to be a mistake; whether it had particular meaning or was just the end result of losing a bet, all body art should at least serve as a time capsule of the life we were leading when we got it and shouldn’t really be looked down upon. However, when you’re a millionare and you pay someone good money to ink something on you and they spell it wrong…that’s a whole other story. Case in point, former “Heroes” actress Hayden Panettiere, who is currently in the process of getting her side tattoo removed.

hayden-panettiere-tattoo-removal-pics

A few years back, the pint sized starlet wanted to get “live without regrets” put on her body in Italian, and she did…except for the fact that the artist misspelled the last word (he/she wrote “rimpiati” and “rimipiati”). So now after years of regretting not paying attention to the etching of her tattoo that tells her not to regret things, she’s going under the laser to have that sucker burned off. The process is said to be very painful and is usually only done by people who are trying to get rid of gang tats and the names of their exes, so it must really bother the little lady that her ribs need a spell check. So as she gets her mistaken ink removed, she seems to not be taking much time to rest and recoup, because she’s out and about frolicking in the waves and enjoying herself. She must be pretty excited about having her ink taken off. We don’t know if she’s going to get it redone or not, but we think that she should, if just to prove that she doesn’t regret it. We’ll keep you posted, and if she has it done over, we’ll have the pictures!

50 Cent Reveals His New Inkless Look

Last year Rapper 50 Cent started undergoing laser treatments to remove his tattoos. In interviews 50 has said he felt he had out grown the look of being covered in tattoos and he wanted to have them removed. He also said he wanted to expand his acting career and that having a lot of tattoos was something hindering him from pursuing roles.

The process of removing tattoos is extremely painful and often occurs over many sessions for completion. The laser penetrates the layer of skin where the ink sits. After several treatments the ink starts to slowly break down and get absorbed by the body. Sessions can last anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes.

Recently 50 was featured in some new ad campaigns with his now inkless skin. The results are pretty dramatic. While you can faintly make out some of the lines, his tattoos are virtually gone. 50 says he still has a ways to go but he has been happy with the results. Take a look at the before and after pictures of 50 Cent tattoos removed.
